GUTTED Arthurlie boss Colin Reilly hopes his troops have done the Barrhead community proud despite their Scottish Junior Cup heartbreak.
‘Lie took the lead at Broadwood on Sunday only for two goals from the Ayrshire side, including an 87th minute winner, earning the silverware for David Winter’s team.
Just shy of 3,491 supporters were in Cumbernauld for Sunday’s season finale with the large majority of them getting behind the Dunterlie Park side who lost in agonising circumstances.
Anson’s 52nd minute header had Reilly’s side in dreamland before Wilson’s brace snatched the trophy away from the streets of Barrhead.
The ‘Lie manager believes his side gave it their all as their performance despite felt agonisingly short.
Speaking post match, he said: “There was a fantastic support from Barrhead and the guys got right behind us – obviously we fell short but the support was fantastic and I think they can still be proud of the boys.
“We don’t walk away as winners but they can still be proud and see we try and play some good football. We’ve got a style that we try and stick too and I think we implemented it well.
“I told the boys to be proud of where they have come from and what they have achieved in getting here. I hope the Barrhead community and the town is proud of the boys.

“It’s a difficult moment but there’s thousands of players who play at this level that have never got to a Scottish Junior Cup final so ultimately, yes, you lose, but you still have to be proud of where you are.”
The club thanked the ‘Lie faithful for their support post-match with a social media post on Monday reading: “Congratulations to Darvel FC on winning the Scottish Junior Cup.
“Yesterday wasn’t our day but it was one of the best days ever in the club’s history.
“A massive thank you for the outstanding support to everyone in Barrhead who made an effort to show their support [and] the following support who made the journey to Broadwood.
“Thank you to all the players and management who gave us some memorable times on this cup
