Neilston manager Andy Whiteford admits he felt hard done by after Saturday’s loss against Shotts Bon Accord.
Whiteford had been undefeated since taking charge of the Farmer’s Boys, initially in a two-game spell as caretaker before another two matches after being handed the role on a permanent basis.
Harry Kent and Ally Martin scored for the visitors at the Brig on Saturday, with a Dillan Duddy strike in the dying stages proving to be no more than a consolation for Neilston.
Whiteford insists his players need to be clinical when chances come their way.
He told Barrhead Sport: “I thought we deserved something from the game. We started well and took the game to them and then they came back into it and scored when they were on top.
“We had some good chances in the second half but it just wouldn’t go in for us and then we don’t clear our lines and they get a second, which was disappointing.
“We kept battling away and got a goal back late on but it was just too late for us to push on and really put them under pressure and look for another.
“I think a draw might have been a fair result when you look at the overall game, so it was disappointing, but these things happen and we just need to move on.
“We’re in a position where we can’t afford too many more games like that where we are missing loads of chances.
“The pleasing thing for me was that we stuck together and battled as a team and played right to the end.
“On another day, it would have been a winning goal rather than a consolation goal.”
Neilston are back in action in the new year as they host Blantyre Victoria on January 6.
