Neilston have all but completed their summer transfer business with the capture of Ross Hocknall, Ross MacKinnon and Brian Ashe, says co-manager Chris Cameron.
The Farmer’s Boys have made a point of conducting their business early in their pre-season preparations with both Cameron and fellow co-boss Derek Carson working tirelessly to get the deals over the line sharp with the season kicking off in four weeks.
The arrival of Hocknall, MacKinnon and Ashe takes Neilston’s tally of new faces up to seven with 14 players from last season extending their stay at the Brig as Cameron revealed that getting the squad settled and bedded in properly is their main priority now.

He said: “We’ve been able to bring a few more players in this week. Getting all that sorted early on really was a priority for us. We didn’t want to be adding to the squad with one or two players coming in every week throughout the summer. I’ve experienced squads like that before and hated it. I like the idea of getting a squad together early and that’s something we’ve been able to implement here this summer.
“Myself and Davie Gordon played with Ross Hucknall when we won the league at Renfrew so we know him well. He really does bring the best out in the other players. Ross is a really high-energy and high-tempo type of player. He brings the best out in the other players. He’s got a brilliant attitude which will only enhance the dressing room here in terms of bringing everyone together even more.

“Ross MacKinnon has come in from Linlithgow Rose in the East of Scotland League with a bit of pedigree and he’s done really well in training so far. He’s a left-sided player and comfortable on the ball so he’ll bring a real composure to the side.
“The young lad Brian comes from Maryhill. We didn’t know much about him to be honest but he had asked to come in and train with us. He’s a striker and a really strong player who can hold it up well. We’ve been really impressed with him and he’ll give us another option up top for sure.
“That’s us got 21 players signed up now. We’re only looking to maybe bring in a goalkeeper now then that will be us for the summer.”
