Neilston co-manager Derek Carson has got his summer rebuild at Brig O’ Lea underway with four new additions checking in.
Carson admitted that he was relishing his first pre-season in charge at the club with both himself and fellow boss Chris Cameron wasting no time in bolstering their squad.
Kyle Cumming, 29, and Mark Archdeacon, 30, have joined from Dalry Thistle while the gaffer has also tied up deals for Kyle Pirie, 21, and Jamie Hay.
And Carson, who has also re-signed 12 players from last season, has told Barrhead Sport that he is still looking to add to his squad in the coming weeks with a couple of spaces still needing to be filled.
He said: “I’ve enjoyed the wee bit of time off but to be honest it hasn’t really been a break for myself and Chris. We’ve been taking and receiving phone calls non-stop for the last few weeks but that’s the part of the job, along with pre-season training, that we were looking forward most - we wanted to get a full summer to bring in our own squad and we’re doing that.
“It’s been hard work but we’ve managed to get a few players on board as well signing up 12 boys from last season. We’re very, very happy with the players we’ve been able to bring in. We’ve got space for three players now but we’ve made a point of not flooding the team. We’ve handpicked the players we needed in the positions we needed to cover and we’re delighted with the business we’ve been able to do.
“Kyle is a wide player who we’ve been desperate to get on board for a good while now and Mark is a top striker who will bring the goals to help ease the pressure on Paul Stewart and Dylan Fletcher.
"We’ve brought in goalkeeper Kyle Pirie from Rutherglen Glencairn U21s who just won the Scottish Youth Cup.
"Jamie Hay has also signed up. He’s played for Glenafton, Bo’ness and Cambuslang. He’s a really good player and a very exciting signing for the club.
"We also have space in the squad left for two or three players, one of which definitely being a goalkeeper. We’ve invited a couple of boys along for some pre-season sessions to get a better look at them.
“We managed to get a good bit of business done quite early so there’s some time now to get a better look.

“Pre-season started last night so we’ll be looking at them over the next week or two without letting it drag on too much. It’ll be three or four sessions and make our minds up there and then to get all of business done nice and early to make sure the team bonding days is with the full squad."
Elsewhere, the Farmer’s Boys have appointed Scott Cochrane as their new goalkeeping coach in a move which Carson believes will benefit the club both short-term and long-term.
He added: “A goalkeeping coach is one of the things Neilston haven’t had in years. It was something myself and Chris pinpointed when we arrived here. We wanted to get two good goalkeepers on board and a dedicated coach to help them out midweek and on match days.
“I came through school with Scott so I know him really well. He’s been around the juniors so he knows what he’s doing. He’ll also be working one day a week with Neilston Wasps and the community side of the club which is great.”
