Police Scotland have launched an investigation after schools across Glasgow and the West of Scotland were targeted with malicious messages.
An unknown number of schools in Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, East Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire were sent a malicious email on Thursday morning.
Police were called at around 8.50am and they are now carrying out enquiries about the situation.
It is not yet known what was in the emails but police are treating it seriously and are looking into the matter that has affected various different schools.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers from Police Scotland were called to an incident, believed to be a malicious email, made to a number of schools in Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, East Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire around 8.50am on Thursday, 31 October, 2024.
“Enquiries are being carried out in conjunction with the relevant local authorities."
