The council has launched a new online community benefits hub.

This allows community groups and not-for-profit organisations to list their needs, ensuring contractors and suppliers support directly requested projects.

As part of the East Renfrewshire Council's community benefits initiative, suppliers who win major contracts must commit to aiding local causes.

These include community enhancement, training and employment opportunities, work placements, school curriculum support, and business supply chain development.

The community benefits hub is an online service that connects communities and businesses, aiming to provide real benefits for locals.

Requests for goods and services can be made by communities, which can then be fulfilled by businesses awarded contracts in the East Renfrewshire area.

The council developed the new hub in collaboration with seven other Glasgow City Region local authorities.

Schools and constituted community groups can register and list their needs on the website at https://tinyurl.com/2dtver83.

Additional guidance and support for groups, and eligibility criteria, are also available.

Owen O’Donnell, leader at East Renfrewshire Council, said: "We’re absolutely committed to ensuring that communities across East Renfrewshire benefit from our contract awards.

"There has already been some fantastic support shared across East Renfrewshire through the community benefit programme, including significant donations to local charities as well as employment and training opportunities for our young people.

"This new online hub will make it easier for community groups to add their wishes and for businesses to ensure they are meeting their contract commitments.

"I would encourage anyone with an idea to register and submit it online."
