A series of free events will be held at East Renfrewshire libraries for Book Week Scotland.

The celebrations, which take place between November 18 and 24, will include events for both adults and children.

On November 20, St Mirren Football Club poet-in-residence, Julie McNeill, will share poems and photographs from her book, 'We Are Scottish Football', at Giffnock Library.

Local ales and pies will be served at this event.

They will engage in a Q&A session, read some of their work, and share insights into their writing journeys.

Laura, author of cosy crime series 'The Murder Affair in Stone Manor', said: "I'm delighted to be taking part in this event.

"As well as being a writer I am also very much an avid reader.

"Book Week Scotland is a wonderful opportunity for book lovers to share their joy of reading and to celebrate all things book related."

For children, an interactive family performance of 'Smogs Up With That' by Act About will be held at Clarkston Library on November 18.

This performance will focus on the importance of clean air, with fun and games included.

Barrhead Foundry Library and Giffnock Library will welcome author Alan Windram for a special session with local primary schools.

East Renfrewshire Libraries will host special Bookbug gifting sessions for all primary one classes.

Scott Simpson, head of libraries and information at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: "We're excited to welcome established writers and host a series of interactive events for adults and children during Book Week Scotland."
