Two takeaways in the town are in the running to pick up a gong at the Scottish Fish and Chip Awards.

Alpino's on Barrhead's Cross Arthurlie Street was named Best Dine in Restaurant’ and ‘Best Family Business’ after a public vote at last year's awards.

This year, the establishment is hoping to follow that up by taking home the Best Fish Supper (West) prize at next month's event.

The Main Street establishment will be up against a host of others from across the nation in the fish-fryer cook-off at the gala final including the Wee Chippy Anstruther.

Other East Renfrewshire establishments have been shortlisted in the competition.

Mario's in Giffnock is in the running to pick up the Best Fish Supper (West) Award, while Catch in Giffnock is a finalist in the Best Fish Tea category.
