Barrhead Housing Association has taken over the management of five properties from Hanover Scotland.

This move will allow tenants to benefit from more localised services and support, according to the review conducted by Hanover Scotland.

The review found that partnering with a trusted, local housing provider could improve services, aligning with Hanover's mission to enhance tenants' lives while upholding values of respect, accountability, collaboration, and inclusion.

Janice McDonald, head of housing at Hanover Scotland, said: "This transfer will allow tenants to benefit from Barrhead Housing’s highly regarded, locally focused services.

"We are confident that their close community ties and excellent customer service will enhance the experience for all tenants."

Barrhead Housing Association is a registered social landlord in East Renfrewshire with nearly 40 years of experience in providing affordable housing and community support.

It manages more than 1,000 homes.

Lorna Wilson, chief executive of Barrhead Housing Association, said: "We are delighted to welcome our new tenants into the Barrhead Housing family.

"We deliver excellent services and put the tenant voice at the heart of everything we do.

"Barrhead’s tenants will also benefit from a dedicated customer service officer, a local office for face-to-face support, and a range of improvements to their homes.

"We are really looking forward to building strong relationships with our new tenants and ensuring they feel at home in our community."

The transfer guarantees that there will be no changes to existing tenancy agreements, rights, or responsibilities.

Tenants will continue to enjoy affordable rents, with no increases until 2026, and a series of home improvements are planned for the coming years.

The completed transfer ensures a seamless transition for tenants, with Barrhead Housing now fully responsible for the management of the properties, delivering on its promises of affordable housing, home improvements, and enhanced community services.

Hanover Scotland, known for its 'innovative' approaches to social housing and its commitment to helping their tenants live independently, serves more than 4,500 homes across Scotland.
