West Scotland MSP Paul O’Kane has vowed to leave "no stone unturned" as he continues the search for a solution to the lack of a Post Office in Neilston.
The village has been without the service since the Main Street branch closed on January 13 following the resignation of the postmaster.
The politician has written to the Post Office to explore the option of a mobile service like that currently used in other villages close by.
Unfortunately Post Office have declined to provide the mobile service on the basis of being overcommitted to its provision in West Scotland.
Mr O’Kane said: “My search for a solution for a Post Office service in Neilston is ongoing.
"My engagement has thus far been disappointing but I persevere."
The MSP has also reached out to several local businesses but so far none have expressed an interest in becoming a sub-postmaster.
He has also contacted Co-op who said it would not be possible to operate the service from their local store.
“It is now my intention to write to local businesses once again and also to visit other community run services close by to understand how their model works,” he added.
“Access to a local post office is a simple but important thing for a village to have and I promise to leave no stone unturned”.
