Police have been conducting speed and vehicle checks on a busy road in East Renfrewshire.

Local officers have been carrying out the measures on Ayr Road in Newton Mearns.

Over the summer, the stretch between Eastwood Toll and Pilmuir Road was permanently cut from a 40mph limit to a 30mph limit.

This was done to improve safety after a “high number” of crashes resulting in injuries were recorded over five years.

Following the checks this week, a spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Remember to observe speed limits and drive to the condition of the road."
