A new programme is set to help aspiring entrepreneurs in East Renfrewshire.

The New Entrepreneurs Challenge aims to help people in the area turn their business ideas into reality.

It is funded by the UK Government and delivered by Bridge 2 Business in partnership with Work East Ren Employability Services, West College Scotland, and the Scottish Government,

Launching on October 7, the initiative is open to unemployed individuals, aged 16 to 69, within the East Renfrewshire Council boundary, seeking to move into employment or entrepreneurship.

The programme will provide 10 participants with nine weeks of hands-on workshops and talks from guest speakers, sharing their experiences and advice.

The New Entrepreneurs Challenge was initially launched as a pilot project in June 2024, helping Ukrainian couple Liubomyr Potoskyi and Natalyia Hevak secure £700 to support their business growth plans.

Mr Potoskyi said: "We have 15 years of experience in the fertilisation business. When we moved to Scotland we saw the opportunity to turn our experience into our business.

"We have learned a lot of useful information through this programme and made good connections with the other participants."
