A Barrhead school has shared its delight at winning a prestigious accolade.
Hillview Primary on Springhill Road is now the proud owner of a Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award from UNICEF, the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights.
The award is granted to schools who show commitment to promoting and realising children’s rights and encouraging adults, children and young people to respect the rights of others in school.
Gold is the highest accolade given by UNICEF UK and shows a deep and thorough commitment to children’s rights at all levels of school life.
Principal teacher Lucy Melville, the Rights Respecting Schools lead for Hillview, told the Barrhead News: “We are delighted to receive our Gold Rights Respecting Schools Award.
"We are very proud of this achievement.
“Rights underpin everything we do in Hillview and they are embedded in our school ethos.”
To mark their achievement, Hillview had a celebration day last Friday (September 13).
“The award recognises all the fantastic hard work by our school community on our rights respecting journey,” added Lucy.
