Barrhead Foundry and Eastwood House will welcome people in on Saturday, September 21 for a special Doors Open Day.

Free entrance to the You are Here exhibition will be available between 11am and 4pm at Barrhead Foundry.

The exhibition which is currently on tour will be stopping in Barrhead to explore the ways we use maps to examine and understand the world.

As well as viewing the exhibition, visitors will be able to browse local maps, and other related items from the East Renfrewshire Heritage Collection, that show how the local area has changed over time.

This will turn attention towards the different influences that have shaped the area's development and ask the question, what does our local area mean to us?

Heritage staff and volunteers will be on hand to chat about the collections with anybody that has any questions.

Meanwhile, a drop-in art activity fit for all the family will also be an option at Barrhead Foundry and Eastwood House.

“On the Map” will allow people of any age to help decorate a “giant” map of the local area by dropping in a drawing of the things in the local area such as schools, parks or shops.

Eastwood House will be open for visitors between 10am and 4.30pm with the drop in "On the Map" activity open to all as well as others which require visitors to sign up.

These adult workshops will also be free, you can sign up through the links below.
