NEWTON Mearns care home residents have shared their advice with children who have returned to school after the summer holidays.
100-year-old Anne Thomson has shared her top tips along with other residents of Newton House Care Home.
Anne, who worked as a dressmaker after serving her country in the Women's RAF during The Second World War, said: "My advice would be to always listen, don't let it go in one ear and out of the other and behave."
Betty Young, aged 92, who pursued a career in book-keeping, said: "Be safe whilst travelling to and from school, keep your wits about you.”
The residents all agreed that a strong work ethic was key, as they wished the children well for the academic year.
Italian-born Silvestro Pacitti, aged 89, owned and ran a fish and chip shop for many years.
He said: "Work hard and be respectful to others."
Former secretary Celia Marshall, 95, agreed with her fellow residents.
She said: "Work hard and don't think education finishes when you leave school. It continues all your life."
Newton House Well-being and Lifestyle Coach Kerry-Anne McDade said: "We can all learn from one another, and who better to learn from than a generation who have been there and done it?
She added: "We wish every child well over the next school year."
