ScotRail have spoken out about a quirk on one of their departure boards at Glasgow Central.
This month a post on Dull Men’s Club, a Facebook group with more than 1.1 million members, questioned why Neilston is always written on the boards as <Neilston>.
In the post, a curious member of the group said: “I've been travelling through Glasgow Central for most of my life, usually on the Gourock train.
“All of the info panels for the train destinations are shown the same with the name in bold at the top.
“The only exception is Neilston which is ALWAYS written as <Neilston>.
“Do any other dull folks know why?”
The post attracted nearly 300 comments and likes on the social media platform.
Many people responded with reasoning for the differentiation before ScotRail cleared up the matter once and for all.
A spokesperson for the rail operator said: “Neilston is marked on our information screens this way to differentiate between Newton.
“As Neilston and Newton are both terminating stations and look alike, adding <> to either side helps to make this stand out.”
