1. Constable Waters praised for courageous actions

(Image: Newsquest) Local cop Constable John Waters was honoured for rescuing a young boy from a crazed dog. The bravery and commitment of Constable Waters and other police officers from across Scotland was recognised at the Scottish Government’s Brave@Heart awards.

2. Bestselling author on his way to games show

(Image: Newsquest) Barrhead author Christopher Brookymre was set for a special appearance at an international games convention. The writer was due to travel across the Channel to Paris to give an expert insight into his latest novel, Bedlam, at the Game Connection Europe convention.

3. Barrhead guests amazed by items recovered from loft

(Image: Newsquest) Barrhead residents travelled back in time at a World War One commemoration event. Memorabilia and drawings sent home from the trenches by acclaimed artist Joseph Gray went on display at Arthurlie House. The drawings had been found in the attic of Barrhead health improvement worker Claire McCririck.

4. Schoolboy loses his beloved dreadlocks for charity

(Image: Newsquest) A caring schoolboy had his unique blonde dreadlocks shorn — all in the name of charity. Samora Malinki, 11, underwent the dramatic cut to raise cash for sick children at Yorkhill Hospital. The Renfrew youngster had been growing his blonde locks for nine years but had them cut off for the first time.

5. Former rugby star pays visit to village

(Image: Newsquest) The public were invited to the opening of the new look Co-op supermarket in Kilbarchan following an investment of £325,000. Sandy Carmichael helped food store staff to celebrate the conversion by cutting the ribbon and declaring the new-look store open for the community.

6. Schoolchildren meet Renfrewshire's newest residents

(Image: Newsquest) Friendly monsters, The Skoobs, were welcomed into Renfrewshire at a special book reading in Linwood Library. Children’s author and illustrator Keith Brumpton drew characters from his Dino FC series of books and chatted to the kids about writing stories
