A huge charity shop is calling on residents to get their hands on a bargain as it celebrates its first birthday.

The Salvation Army Donation Centre (SADC) opened its doors at Barrhead’s new retail park last summer with a launch event attended by volunteers, staff and Councillor Chris Lunday.

The store is designed to receive donations of household items such as furniture and homeware and is larger in size than the charity’s regular shops.

As well as these items, it also sells the kind of clothing, books and other pre-loved things found in the charity's other premises.

The money generated from the sale of items is used to support the Salvation Army’s "ongoing mission to help those in need."

The SADC shared news of their birthday and the bargains on offer on their social media page today (Thursday, July 11).

The post said: “Today we celebrate our 1st Birthday and we have lots of great offers waiting for you instore.

“There are bargain rails of men and women’s clothing at £1, children’s & babies’ clothing starting at 49p, bags for £2, shoes at £1 and not forgetting bric-a-brac starting at 49p.

“We would like to say a massive “thank you” to all our customers for supporting us over the past year and hope you will pop in over the next few days to say “hello” and pick up a bargain or two.”
