A FUN day will take place at a Barrhead church on Saturday, July 6, with something on offer for people of all ages.

Families are encouraged to head along to St Andrew's Parish Church, where there will be a host of free activities to enjoy.

Children can leap into action at a bouncy castle, as well as having their face painted and enjoying some candy floss.

There will also be craft-making, parachute games and stalls selling the likes of used books and games.

Tasty food from a barbecue will be on offer, with home baking, tea and coffee also being served.

The fun starts at noon and continues until 4pm.

It is part of a summer programme of activities at the church, with everyone who goes along being promised a warm welcome.

There will also be a film afternoon on Friday, July 12, from 2pm until 4pm, when Wonka will be screened, with free refreshments available.

This will take place in the church's community hall, with a large screen and surround sound.

A singalong and quiz will take place during the interval.

Families are encouraged to head along in fancy dress, with prizes on offer to those wearing the best costumes.

The fun will continue with an All Age Olympics event on Friday, July 19, from 2pm until 4pm.

There will be eight Olympic-style sports in which to participate.

Graham Currie, youth and community worker at St Andrew's Parish Church, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer these free activities for families, using our community hall and community garden, and we’ll be praying for good weather.

"All activities are free to attend and children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

"There is no need to book in advance, just turn up on the day.

"Donations will be accepted for East Renfrewshire Good Causes."
