East Renfrewshire Council have approved plans subject to conditions to change a shop into a pilates studio.
Plans for the retail unit at 45 Mackinley Place in Newton Mearns just outside the Avenue Shopping Centre were submitted in April and approved this month.
The premises, which are listed on The Avenue's website as to let, have been home to Taylors of Giffnock, a shop selling domestic and built-in appliances with a long history of serving the community.
The plans were submitted by Bach Design on behalf of Jennifer Barnett of Move with Jen Ltd.
The condition of approval is that the approved development must be begin no later than three years after permission was granted.
