Barrhead Boxing Club has shared their pride after a young member secured gold while representing Scotland at an international competition.
Liam Moohan was selected to represent his country at the Gergely Bornemissza Memorial Tournament in Eger Hungary, which took place last month.
The 16-year-old from Glenburn in Paisley came out on top in junior 46kg weight after a lovely display of front foot, clever boxing.
The outstanding achievement is the result of all the hard work the teenage boxer, who has been a member of the club for five years, puts in day in and day out.
Thomas McGuire, club coach, heaped praise on the youngster.
He told the Barrhead News: “Liam boxed Hungarian Dominik Hegyi in his quarterfinal bout winning by first-round stoppage.
“His semi-final bout he won by walkover after his Hungarian opponent Janos Raduly pulled out of the bout.
“In the final he beat Hungarian Laslo Papal via split decision to win the gold medal.
“A good week's work for the Scottish Champion.
“Everyone at The Barrhead Boxing Club is extremely proud of him.”
