A man told a police officer he looked like he "had a nice sack" as he tried to arrest him.

Alastair Wardrop, 43, was walking on Dalmarnock Road in the East End on September 9, 2023 and went into a shop.

He was intoxicated and he bought lighter gas.

Police officers saw him leave and approached him.

As they were talking, Wardrop's attention was fixed on one cop's crotch area.

He extended his arms in a downward motion as the officer moved to the side to avoid contact.

The Newton Mearns man was arrested and put in a police van.

There, he told the police: "You look like you have a nice sack" as he continued to look at his crotch.

Some members of the public stopped to watch the incident, which amused him.

Cops asked him to stop as he was cautioned, charged and taken to London Road police station.

Wardrop appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after he pleaded guilty to acting aggressively, uttering sexualised remarks and attempting to seize the officer.

Sheriff Vincent Lunny said: "This is a drunken rant."

His lawyer told the court: "This is a very much Jekyll and Hyde situation,

"He has been consuming gas. He has been attending Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and ADRS.

"He is unfit for unpaid work."

Wardrop was sentenced to a year of supervision.

The sheriff told him: "You have a significant record but it looks as if you are turning a corner, I would not want to interfere with that."
