THE council has opened an upgraded outdoor games facility at the Dunterlie Resource Centre in Barrhead.
East Renfrewshire Council secured funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund programme and conducted a community survey to identify what improvements people wanted to see at the multi-use games area (MUGA).
The majority appealed for football pitches and a basketball court.
The new porous asphalt surface has a painted anti-slip surface and line markings for both football and basketball, along with tennis court markings.
It is open for community use all week without bookings necessary.
Councillor Danny Devlin, convener of Environment and Housing, said: "It’s long been our wish to upgrade and improve these facilities in Dunterlie, so I’m delighted that we secured the funding and the project is now complete.
"It provides a much-needed space for young people to play and exercise and I look forward to seeing the local community enjoy it."
