A HOUSING development in Barrhead recently celebrated four decades of community living.
St Mary's Gardens commemorated the milestone with tenants, families, and staff with a birthday cake, refreshments, and music from local piper Heather Grant.
As tenants reminisced about their memories of calling St Mary's Gardens home, Helen, a resident, said: "It was nice to meet so many strangers who became friends.”
Fay, another tenant, said: “It was nice we all got together and to meet all the staff.”
The housing is a 32-one-bedroom development of flats offering support and engagement to tenants.
Louise Muir, development manager, said: “Being able to all come together and celebrate the vibrant community here at St Mary's Gardens made for a memorable afternoon.
“Celebrating 40 years is a testament to the hard work of our staff and the wonderful tenants who have called this place home. Here is to the next 40.”
Angela Currie, chief executive officer of Hanover Scotland, the firm behind the development, said: "Our goal is to consistently enhance our services and ensure our developments remain desirable places to live for years to come.
"Marking St Mary's Gardens' 40th anniversary is a celebration of our commitment to ensuring affordable, safe and comfortable living for our tenants over the years.”
