1. Thousands honour area's armed forces
More than 6,000 people turned out for an armed forces celebration. Veterans, pipers and dancers from Barrhead and Neilston all helped make the day a huge success.
2. Work experience scheme tees up job
Peter Lafferty from Barrhead took part in one of 54 voluntary placements included in the Our Community Work Experience Initiative and landed a five day-a-week role at the prestigious Mearns Castle Golf Academy.
3. East Renfrewshire squad go from strength to strength
East Renfrewshire’s award-winning mixed tenure squad continued to go from strength to strength. Each of the squad successfully passed the Construction Safety Certification Test.
4. Council save 20k
East Renfrewshire Council announced it expected to save up to £20,000 following a contract change. The move saw the housing team reduce the number of contractors it used for close cleaning. The new contractor became Abby Cleaning who took on responsibility for scrubbing-up nearly 200 properties across East Renfrewshire.
5. Pupils give cracking performances in fairytale stage show
Pupils at Uplawmoor Primary revisited classic fairy tales for their happy ever after show. A total of 58 children performed in front of more than 100 proud friends and family members who came to see the little ones on stage.
6. Kids were a proper sport at annual event
St Mark's Primary pupils were raring to go as they took part in the school’s annual sports day.
8. Schoolgirl was picked to run with Queen’s baton
A lucky Neilston girl Morven Considine was announced as an official baton-bearer in the run up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. What made it even more special was that she was set to follow in the footsteps of her dad who, 28 years previously, ran with the baton when the Games came to Edinburgh in 1986.
