A Newton Mearns restaurant has been praised for picking up a significant award after only opening last year.
The Malletsheugh, just off Ayr Road in the East Renfrewshire town, were crowned 'New Restaurant of the Year' at the annual Scottish Curry Awards earlier this month.
The restaurant was opened in August 2023 by the Birk family following an extensive and stylish redesign. The recently renovated restaurant includes a new glass-walled private dining room.

Now, they have been commended for their dedication to the community and were recognised by Kirsten Oswald, MP for East Renfrewshire, who tabled an Early Day Motion.
She said: “I was delighted to hear that the Malletshuegh had won the category of ‘New Restaurant of the Year’ at the Scottish Curry Awards.
“It was excellent to meet with the family at the restaurant to hear about how the business is thriving and already picking up prestigious awards despite having only opened last year.
"I was happy to present a copy of the Early Day Motion I tabled at Westminster to mark this significant achievement.
“Local businesses like the Malletsheugh are the lifeblood of our communities and add so much vibrancy to the area.
"We are very lucky to have these fantastic businesses in East Renfrewshire and we should give them our support when possible.”

The restaurant is run by Tina Birk and staffed by her sons Pavan, Aman, Bobby, and Rohan, and is a loving tribute to their grandfather who first started the family’s tradition of cooking Indian food in Glasgow.
The Scottish Curry Awards aims to recognise and celebrate the hard work and talents of staff and businesses in Scotland’s curry industry.
Tina added: "We are absolutely delighted to be crowned the best new restaurant. We work hard every day to provide excellent customer service and food, so to be recognised for this is a great feeling.
“We have only been here for a short period of time but we already feel like we are a huge part of the community so we would like to give a heartfelt thank you to everybody for all their support."
