A community champion who completed all four of Scotland’s Kiltwalks last year is all set to put his best foot forward once again for a vital local charity.
Anwar Rafiq took on his biggest challenge yet in 2023 and after a well-earned break is taking part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk on April 28.
Last year the dad-of-two from Neilston raised funds for Barrhead charity Include Me 2 Club and Neilston Players’ Santa sleigh refurbishment project.
For his latest challenge, however, he has been raising funds for Neilston and Uplawmoor First Responders – already smashing his £1,000 target.
He said: “The charity does great things within our community and is like our fourth emergency service.
“There is still time to donate.”
Ahead of the Kiltwalk, Anwar met up in Barrhead with members of the first responders and Provost Mary Montague who thanked him for the work he is doing for the community.
He also met up with his t-shirt sponsors for the event, D Moodie & Co. Funeral Directors and Coffee Roasters Scotland to thank them for supporting him and helping him reach his target.
“It was lovely to meet up with the guys I am supporting, the Neilston and Uplawmoor First Responders SCIO," he added.
“Every penny counts for them. These guys save lives and the funding from my Kiltwalk will help save more lives (by) buying defibrillators.”
