East Renfrewshire MP Kirsten Oswald shared her first-hand experience of the “excellent Barrhead Men’s Shed” at Westminster last week.
The politician did so during a meeting with Men’s Sheds to discuss their positive impact in communities.
The organisations are a place to pursue practical interests, practice skills and enjoy making and crafting - all while promoting positive well-being and reducing loneliness and social isolation.
Ms Oswald said: “I was delighted to meet with representatives from Men’s Sheds at Westminster to discuss the immensely positive impact they are having in communities across Scotland.
“Men’s Sheds are bringing people together, helping to reduce social isolation, promote well-being, and foster friendships between those who attend."
Barrhead Men’s Shed is the only one currently in East Renfrewshire and is located at 9 Robertson Street.
“I am always very impressed by Men’s Shed Barrhead, and we are fortunate to have such a forward-looking and impactful organisation in our community," she added.
“They do brilliant woodwork and so much more, meaning there is a place for everyone, and in my experience a guaranteed warm welcome too.
“Men’s Sheds are doing a power of good work, and I would encourage anyone interested in joining a Men’s Shed to do so.”
