A motorist was arrested in Barrhead at the weekend after allegedly getting behind the wheel while he was under the influence of drugs.
Police stopped a Volkswagen Golf in the town's Glasgow Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officers said the car was found to have a defective tyre and did not have a valid MOT.
The 30-year-old driver failed a drugs wipe for cannabis and was arrested at the scene.
Police have now issued a warning to local motorists that those who get behind the wheel while they are unfit to drive can expect to face prosecution.
PC Iain MacIntyre, of Giffnock Police Office, told the Barrhead News: “Officers are trained to check for the signs of drug use and roadside tests are commonplace.
"Those unfit to drive will be arrested and brought before the courts.”
