Join us as we take a trip down memory lane to look at what was happening in the area 10 years ago.
We delved into the Barrhead News archives to pick out some of the stories from over a decade ago.
Here are some photographs from our edition which was published on Wednesday, February 12, 2014.
Do you remember these stories or spot any familiar faces?
1. A Barrhead musician made a triumphant return to his hometown for the first time in 10 years while on a UK tour. Having spent the majority of his childhood growing up in the town, singer-songwriter Jimmy Livingstone visited as he prepared for a show in Kilbarchan.
2. A Next Steps to the Early Years Journey event was organised to give anyone who grew up, or lived in Barrhead, the opportunity to discuss the best way forward for the town.
3. Our photographer was on hand at St John’s Primary school as boys and girls went head to head with a spot of tennis.
4. Neilston boss Andy Whiteford looked to his side’s unbeaten home form as he admitted promotion was well within the sights of the Brig O’Lea side.
5. Arthurlie made it through to the second round of the Central league Cup after a 4-1 victory over Larkhall Thistle but they were certainly made to work for their win over the District league side.
6. Pictured are army cadets including Shantel Edmiston and Matthew Hepburn from Barrhead and Rebecca Smith from Uplawmoor. The “top first aiders” were set to train together under the first aid training officer Sergeant Major Derek Ross and his team of first aid trainers.
