A new initiative providing free soup has been launched in East Renfrewshire.
Members of Barrhead St Andrew’s Parish Church will be serving a simple soup lunch between 12pm and 2pm on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
In addition to a choice of soup, people will also be able to enjoy a hot drink and the chance to have a chat and get to know people from the local community.
Rev Tim Mineard, the minister for Barrhead St Andrew's Parish Church, said: “The initiative is being taken forward by the congregation’s Looking Out group.
“It is aimed at providing simple and nutritious food for local people and hopefully some company for those who are isolated in the town.”
Soup at St Andrew’s, as it has been named, will be taking place in the new community hall at the back of the main church.
There is no cost to attend, and the initiative is open to people of all ages.
Disabled access parking is available directly outside the hall for those who need it.
