A LOCAL politician has pledged her support for the Scottish Environmental Horticulture Growth Strategy during a meeting at Westminster.
It comes after East Renfrewshire's MP Kirsten Oswald attended the meeting which was hosted by the Horticultural Trades Association.
The initiative, which launched in March 2023, aims to create a "healthier Scotland", increase the use of Scottish-grown plants, develop green economic growth, enhance biosecurity, and protect Scotland's natural environment.
In the local area, both Rouken Glen Garden Centre and Caulders Garden Centre Braidbar, are members of the trade.
Kirsten Oswald MP said: “I was delighted to attend the Horticultural Trades Association’s parliamentary event that focused on the Scottish Environmental Horticultural Growth Strategy.
“With over one million regular gardeners in Scotland and countless others utilising our green spaces it is clear that horticulture can have a profoundly positive impact on all of our lives.
“I was also glad to see that two East Renfrewshire based businesses, Rouken Glen Garden Centre and Caulders Garden Centre, were listed among Horticultural Trades Association retailers.
“The Scottish Environmental Horticultural Growth Strategy complements the Scottish Government’s new national planning framework which places sustainability at its heart to help deliver a healthier and greener Scotland.”
