A LOCAL politician has highlighted the importance of replacing all animal testing with human-relevant science.
It comes after East Renfrewshire's MP Kirsten Oswald met with representatives from LUSH cosmetics, leading scientists, and animal welfare organisations.
Since its launch in 1995, LUSH has supported an end to animal testing, has never conducted or commissioned animal tests on its finished products, and has never bought ingredients from suppliers who conduct animal testing.
On top of that, they are currently campaigning for the appointment of a Minster for Human Relevant Sciences to drive the transition away from animal testing.
Kirsten Oswald MP said: “Animal test results are unreliable, lack human relevance, and cause unnecessary suffering.
"With advances in life sciences, new advanced modelling techniques such as in vitro models and advanced computer modelling provide better results without cruelty being inflicted on animals."
