An East Renfrewshire venue has announced a “unique show” with the Queen of the West End Kerry Ellis.

The multi-award winning 44-year-old has starred in some of musical theatre’s biggest shows in the West End and on Broadway, playing Elphaba in Wicked, Eliza Dolittle in My Fair Lady, Fantine in Les Misérables, Nancy in Oliver! and Grizabella in Cats.

Her list of credits also includes Miss Saigon, Chess, The War Of The Worlds, and Anything Goes, among many others.

The show at Eastwood Park Theatre (EPT) next year will see her perform the West End’s biggest hits and give the audience an insight into her career and experiences, from playing lead roles on Broadway and beyond, to touring with a musical legend.

Kerry told the Barrhead News: "I am really looking forward to this tour.

“I can't wait to share my stories, as well as perform some West End favourites.

“It will be an opportunity to really get to know my fans and for them to get to know me in an intimate setting."

Indeed, alongside her stellar stage success, Kerry has recorded four studio albums and toured the world both as a solo artist and with Queen guitarist Sir Brian May.

The show is part of nationwide tour, looking back on her illustrious career.

The announcement makes her the latest big name lined up to appear at the Giffnock venue.

Moira McFadden, head of community and arts at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: "We are truly delighted to welcome musical theatre royalty, Kerry Ellis, to EPT in November next year.”

A number of high-profile people have performed to sell-out crowds at the theatre this year its 50th anniversary, from Lulu and Paul Young to Marti Pellow and Gareth Gates.

Next year is shaping up to be just as successful.

Along with Kerry’s show, audiences can also look forward to the Sex Pistol's frontman John Lydon, broadcaster and best-selling author Reverend Richard Coles and Cbeebies star Nick Cope.

“Now, the 'Queen of the West End' joins next year's programme and we look forward to announcing more acts, theatre performances, music, comedy, kids shows and film screenings for 2024,” added Moira.

"We want to say a huge thank you to our audiences for their ongoing support as we strive to bring the biggest and most interesting names right into the heart of our community here at EPT."

Kerry Ellis - Queen of The West End comes to the venue on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Tickets go on sale at 10am tomorrow, Friday, October 27.
