A renowned singer who captivated the world as a boy with his angelic voice is coming to an East Renfrewshire venue.
Next spring Eastwood Park Theatre (EPT) in Giffnock will welcome Aled Jones, who will be looking back on a remarkable career spanning 40 years in showbusiness with his one-man show Full Circle.
The performance will feature never-before-heard music, tales from the decades and, for the first time, his story told in his own words.
Moira McFadden, Head of Arts and Communities at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: "Aled Jones has enjoyed a career on stage and in the spotlight from a young age and achieved significant success, performing in the world's most iconic venues, including London’s Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House.
"He even gave a private performance to King Charles III in Kensington Palace.”
The Welshman’s recording of Walking in the Air, from the animated film The Snowman, firmly established him as a household name.
Now 52, he has sold over seven million albums and is equally at home on the classical stage or starring in musical theatre productions in the West End.
His credits include lead roles in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.
Aled is also an award-winning television broadcaster and radio presenter who’s interviewed hundreds of A-List stars over the years.
He heads up BBC’s Songs of Praise and his own Saturday and Sunday morning shows on Classic FM.
"We're excited to welcome Aled to take centre stage at EPT next year to hear his story and experiences as he reflects on a fascinating career," added Moira.
The theatre’s 50th anniversary line-up this year has featured a series of star performances, including Lulu and Paul Young and the theatre is set to welcome Marti Pellow, Eamonn Holmes and Gareth Gates this autumn.
Aled is the latest star to join EPT's line up for 2024, which also includes Reverend Richard Coles, Sex Pistol's frontman John Lydon and CBeebies star Nick Cope.
Aled Jones – Full Circle comes to the venue on Friday, April 12 at 7.30pm.
Tickets for the show are on sale now, priced from £30.
