NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has been recognised with an award from the Ministry of Defence Employers Recognition Scheme.
The health board was given a Gold Award to mark the outstanding commitment they offer to veterans and armed forces personnel across the area but also due to the large part of their workforce who have close links to the Armed Forces.
NHSGGC also say the award comes after all the proactive work they do to help ensure those who have served, who continue to serve, and their families, aren't disadvantaged in the workplace.
Retired RAF Group Captain Alan Cowan, Non-Executive Board Member and Board Armed Forces Champion, said: “The Defence Employers Recognition Scheme Gold Award is a tangible acknowledgement of the Board’s support for the Armed Forces Covenant which is the nation’s promise to ensure that those who serve or have served & their families are treated fairly and with respect.
“I am therefore delighted that NHSGGC’s long-standing commitment to working closely with the Armed Forces has been recognised. I want to thank everyone who helped make this possible, with a special thank you to all our staff who form part of our Armed Forces Community.”
Anne MacPherson, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, added: “This is a fantastic achievement for NHSGGC.
“We are committed to ensuring a good staff experience for everyone in our diverse workforce. Our armed forces colleagues are a vital part of that great community.”
