Volunteers are being sought for a new project which will support East Renfrewshire residents who have dementia.
East Renfrewshire Carers Centre (ERCC) has been awarded funding by Shared Care Scotland to launch a year-long initiative called Dementia Walking Buddies.
This will enable people affected by the loss of cognitive functioning to get out and about.
Many people living with dementia have difficulty negotiating walks and could benefit from some company.
The new project will see ERCC join forces with Alzheimer’s Scotland, Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire and Mearns Kirk Helping Hands to give one-to-one support.
Volunteers will receive free training, ongoing support and expenses.
A spokesperson said: “It’s a rewarding position and the time you are able to spare each week is open for discussion.”
