Schools in East Renfrewshire still have time to sign up for a walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling competition.
The Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel takes place from Monday, March 20, to Friday, March 31, and inspires pupils to make active journeys to and from school, improve the air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit their world.
Cross Arthurlie Primary, in Barrhead, and Crookfur Primary, in Newton Mearns, have already signed up.
Cecilia Oram, of Sustrans, the charity that aims to make it easier to walk, wheel and cycle, said: “This is such a fun event for schools to take part in.
“There’s a serious element to the Big Walk and Wheel too. Not only does the event help reduce pollution around the school gates but, in 2019, it helped parents save an estimated £1.6million in petrol costs during the fortnight.”
