A COLOURFUL Christmas card design by residents at an East Renfrewshire care home has won a competition.
More than 20 care homes across the UK operated by Larchwood Care took part in the contest.
And it was the design by residents at Eastwood Court – featuring a glittery Christmas stocking – that impressed judges the most.
It was then used as the Christmas card that Larchwood Care sent to the likes of its suppliers.
Debbie Martin, manager at the Giffnock care home, said: “I am so proud of our residents’ artistic skills.
“The idea of the stocking design came from talking about what makes this time of year so special and some of their memories of Christmas when they were children.
“They kept coming back to the excitement of seeing their stockings hung up and wondering what Father Christmas had put in there for them.”
Lynn Fearn, managing director of Larchwood Care, added: “Eastwood Court residents have done an amazing job with their design and should be really proud.
“A Christmas stocking is instantly recognisable as a symbol of giving and the colourful glitter reminded us of sitting around a fire with stockings hanging from the fireplace. We simply loved it.”
