Residents at a Barrhead care home will enjoy a Christmas to remember, thanks to a successful fundraising night.
An impressive total of £1,400 was coined in for The Firs to add to the funds used to book fun activities and outings.
Dozens of raffle prizes, including hair salon vouchers and beauty treatments, were donated by generous local people and businesses.
Liz Rennie, activities co-ordinator at The Firs, said: “It was a great night and we had really good feedback from everyone who came along.
“We had two residents – Jean and Alma – attend as well and they had the best night.
“We were all laughing because Jean won a tattoo voucher in the raffle and had to swap her prize with someone else.”
The charity night was held at the United Services Club.
Jean said: “I was ready to go out from five o’clock, even though the charity night didn’t start until eight o’clock.
“I had so much fun.”
Staff at The Firs have already been making sure the funds raised are put to good use by booking lots of Christmas activities for the residents.
Among the treats they can look forward to are a pantomime, a Christmas party with a singer and a visit from a generous elf who will hand out selection boxes to everyone.
Two large Christmas trees have also been ordered for the lounges at The Firs.
Liz added: “We have a couple of extra raffle prizes that we held back as we are going to do another one closer to Christmas, so keep your eye on our Facebook page.
“We cannot thank everyone enough for their continued support and all the donations. It’s thanks to them that the charity night was so successful.”
