Members of Barrhead Boxing Club were left punching the air with joy after receiving a £500 cash boost from the Rolls-Royce Inchinnan branch of the Unite trade union.

The money will go towards funding boxers’ medicals, as well as registration and entry fees for upcoming tournaments.

Unite officials Kevin Wright and Peter Flynn headed along to the club, in Cogan Street, to present the cheque.

Club coach Thomas McGuire told the Barrhead News: “We would like to thank the Rolls-Royce Inchinnan branch for their donation of £500.

“Special thanks to Kevin and Peter for visiting the club. Their support is greatly appreciated.”
