East Renfrewshire is preparing to welcome the UK’s biggest celebrity gourmet food and music festival this weekend.
The Foodies Festival will take place in Rouken Glen park from Friday, August 12 to Sunday, August 14.
The event will feature TV chefs and celebrities, champions from Masterchef and the Great British Menu, and award-winning Scottish chefs.
Each day will have a headlining music act: N-Trance on Friday, Toploader on Saturday, and Callum Beattie on Sunday.
Celebrity TV chef and star of the Great British Menu Jimmy Lee will be among those showcasing a selection of mouth-watering food.
He said: "The Foodies audience is always keen and knowledgeable.
“This year I’ll be cooking a dish which is all locally sourced to highlight the abundance of great produce Scotland has in its larder."
Celebrities cooking their signature dishes live in the Chefs’ Theatre include Scotland’s National Chef Gary Maclean, champion of MasterChef: The Professionals and chef-patron of Creel Caught in Edinburgh, and MasterChef: The Professionals 2021 finalist Liam Rogers who is now sous-chef at The Strathearn at Gleneagles.
MasterChef 2022 semi-finalist Sarah Rankin, MasterChef 2021 finalist Laura Michael and Great British Menu star Calum Montgomery will also be showing off their culinary skills.
Pete McKenna, chef-patron from The Gannet, in Glasgow, and Michelin trained head chef Ronan Shaftoe, from Glasgow’s Bar Brett, will be appearing, too.
Pete said: “I’m really excited to bring a taste of what I do at The Gannet to the Foodies Festival this weekend.
“As always, I will be using incredible Scottish produce, from hand dived scallops from Mull, foraged mushrooms from Argyll to organic Greenheart flowers and herbs from Fife.
"It’s great to cook alongside my friends and contemporaries in Scotland's brilliant food scene.”
Author and entrepreneur Dominique Woolf will showcase recipes, and in the Cake & Bake Theatre, an impressive line-up of expert star bakers will create delicious show-stopping masterpieces and share their best tips and tricks.
There will also be an opportunity to browse the very latest world food trends in the Shopping Village and try exotic new dishes on Street Food Avenue.
The range on offer will include tantalising delicacies from all four corners of the globe.
In total, more than 150 exhibitors will showcase their produce, providing festival-goers with the chance to sample the best of Scotland.
Those who fancy a tipple, meanwhile, can join masterclasses in the Drinks Theatre, including champagne, beer, cider and wine tasting.
For the younger attendees, the Kids Cookery School will encourage them to make simple food which they can take away and enjoy.
There will also be a funfair, sand art, craft tents and face painting.
