MARK O’HARA says he agreed a free transfer to St Mirren because the central midfielder believes the Paisley club are on the brink of ‘something special’.
The 26-year-old left Motherwell this week as his two-and-a-half year spell in Lanarkshire drew to a close and the Scot is looking forward to the next chapter of his career.
The versatile player expects to play predominantly in the middle for St Mirren after being reunited with manager Stephen Robinson – who brought O’Hara to Fir Park in 2019 – but he insists he is happy to play wherever he is required to aid the team’s efforts.
“I spoke with the manager and I could just feel that it's going to be something special next season so I'm happy to be a part of that,” O’Hara, who is St Mirren’s first signing of the summer, told the club’s website.
“I feel now I'm well experienced and I do have a lot to bring the team. I feel my best football is yet to come and hopefully that will be with St Mirren over the coming seasons.
“The manager sees me as a box-to-box midfielder, getting about the park and affecting both ends of the pitch. But I'm happy to help the team in any way that I can.
“I wish I could just get started right away but I'll enjoy my next couple of weeks and I'm really relishing the challenge coming in here.”
