Two Barrhead schoolgirls were part of an energetic kids cast who lit up the stage alongside some big names.
St Luke’s High pupils Cerys Tinney, 15, and Francesca McGoldrick, 14, performed in Movies to Musicals over two evenings at the Alhambra Theatre, in Dunfermline.
The all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza, produced by Glasgow Philharmonia, also featured actor John Partridge, who played Christian Clarke in long-running BBC TV soap EastEnders, and West End stars Rob Houchen and Jade Davies.
Francesca’s proud mum Frances, who was there at both performances to cheer her daughter on, along with other family members, told the Barrhead News: “It was a great show.
“The Saturday night was good but the show on the Sunday was just fabulous.
“It was good to get back into a theatre with a proper audience and she absolutely loved it from start to finish.
“There was a brilliant atmosphere.”
The concerts followed an intensive four days at Ardentinny Outdoor Centre, in Dunoon, and several Sundays of rehearsals in the run-up to the big weekend.
The kids cast usually get auditioned every year but, due to the coronavirus pandemic, things were different this time as the hit show made its long-awaited return.
This was Cerys’s fourth time being involved but, for Francesca, it was her first year, so she had to send in two audition videos before she was selected.
Frances explained: “One was of her singing a musical theatre song and one was of a dance style of her choice – and, thankfully she got in.
“Now she needs to audition in June to be in next year’s cast, so we have our fingers crossed she gets chosen again.”
