A COMMUNITY garden has been ‘adopted’ by Barrhead Rotary.
More than £1,000 has already been spent to upgrade Maxton Garden, in Gateside Road, near Graham Street, with the aim of restoring it to its former glory.
As part of the ongoing project, local Rotarians, with the help of other volunteers, are currently improving pathways in the upper garden.
Work usually takes place on Saturdays, from 10am until 12.30pm, depending on the weather conditions.
Douglas Yates, president of Barrhead Rotary, said: “We need the help of other local organisations and individuals to give us the manpower to tackle the larger pieces of work in the garden and also for ongoing planting and maintenance.
“If anyone can give us a few hours of their time to work in the garden, it would be much appreciated.”
