A POPULAR running event in East Renfrewshire will make a comeback this year.
Organisers of annual farming fair The Neilston Show, which is returning after a two-year absence caused by the Covid pandemic, have said the Pad Race will take place in May.
The 4.5-mile run, which starts at the show field and circles the Neilston Pad, follows a course made up of roads, pathways, trails and mud.
Announcing the details online, organisers said: “This is primarily a trail race featuring a decent climb, with a short linking section on public roads.
“Runners of all ability are welcome. It’s a race for some and a run for others.
“Entry to Neilston Show is included, so why not make a day of it and enjoy the show once you pass the finish line?”
Basic changing facilities will be available for runners and bags can be left in the race tent.
Parts of the course will be muddy, so those taking part are strongly advised to wear off-road shoes.
Entrants must be aged 16 or over.
Online entry closes at midnight on Thursday, April 5, and on-the-day entry will cost £12, which includes admission to the show field.
