Barrhead is just at the very edge of the area covered by the warning with other parts of the local authority such as Neilston and Newton Mearns also within its reach.
The Met Office is also warning that roads and railways are likely to be affected, leading to longer journey times by car as well as by bus and train services.
A yellow warning for strong winds has also been issued for the area.
This will be in place from 3am until 12pm tomorrow with the Met Office saying that some disruption may result.
Whilst such high winds are not unusual for the time of year, forecasters warn that "recently weakened trees and structures may mean a greater likelihood of localised damage or disruption".
