AN East Renfrewshire man who had been missing for almost a month has been found dead.
Police had issued appeals for information as concerns grew for the welfare of 71-year-old David Fletcher.
He had been dropped off by taxi on the Broomielaw, near the King George V Bridge, in Glasgow, at around 7.15pm on Thursday, December 9, and was later reported as missing.
Now police have revealed that the body of a man recovered from the River Clyde at the city's Pointhouse Place yesterday has been confirmed as Mr Fletcher, from Giffnock.
Officers had been called to the riverbank, at the rear of the Riverside Museum, at around 9.30am.
A police spokesperson told the Barrhead News: "The deceased has been formally identified as David Fletcher, 71, who was last seen in Glasgow city centre on Thursday, December 9.
"His family are aware. There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
