A SCARECROW festival in Barrhead has been hailed as a great success.
Families across town got into the ‘spirit’ of things during the run-up to Hallowe’en by arranging impressive displays outside their homes.
It was the second year in a row that the Big Barrhead Scarecrow Festival had taken place, after proving to be a monster hit with local residents during the 2020 Covid lockdown.
Each display was entered into a contest run by business improvement organisation All About Barrhead, with the public invited to vote for their favourite and cash prizes awarded to the winners.
First place in the community category was ‘Stitches and Family,’ by Natalie McLachlan, while ‘Spongebob Scarepants,’ by the Murphy brothers was runner-up.
Winner in the business category was ‘Frank Firstein,’ by residents at The Firs care home, with second place going to ‘The Steamie,’ by Barrhead Dry Cleaners.
Colette Edenborough, of All About Barrhead, said: “We decided to do this competition again for 2021 as it was such a success in 2020.”
