THERE was fun for people of all ages at the weekend as Barrhead played host to a spook-tacular Hallowe’en parade.
The colourful event saw scores of people in fancy dress march through the town centre before enjoying a fireworks display.
It was organised by business improvement organisation All About Barrhead and took place for the first time since 2019, with last year’s event having to be cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.
Families were also able to enjoy a carnival in Barrhead town centre as part of the festivities.
Colette Edenborough, project management assistant at All About Barrhead, said the events were a great success.
She added: “There were more than 150 people taking part in the parade, including Incahootz and Gillian Anderson’s Le Dance Studio. It was led by the Barrhead and District Pipe Band.
“The route was lined with lots of members of the community who came out to enjoy the spooky fun.
“We also crowned four costume prizewinners – under-eight boy and girl and over-eight boy and girl – each of whom won £50 and was invited on stage to press the big red button which set off our fireworks finale and signalled the end of this year’s event.
“There was such a great atmosphere throughout the day and that only increased as everyone got ready for the parade to leave from Tesco.
“Everyone was saying how great it was to finally be back, getting everyone together and having events again, and you could tell that all the kids were having a great time.”
